Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum

The Berthoud Historical Society’s museum at the east end of Mountain Avenue, built around the Bimson Blacksmith Shop, which Alfred Bimson put up in native sandstone in 1893 as the town’s first smithy and which is on the National Register. The Society opened the museum in it in 1978, with exhibits on the railroad, the sugar-beet farms, the schools and the families who settled the Little Thompson valley. Open Wednesday to Saturday, 1 to 4 pm; adults $5, seniors and teens $3, children free. The Society also runs the McCarty-Fickel Home at 645 7th Street by appointment, a summer concert series in the courtyard and an August barn tour.
